Learning to love: Ke$ha

I'm not one for pop music. In fact, I'm a rather large classic rock fan. But every once in a while there will be that one pop song, that one radio hit, that one party anthem that'll weasel it's way into my ear drums and bore it's way into my cranium and NEVER LEAVE!! And then, there's the radio pop tart artist that manages to fool everyone into thinking she can sing. You know, the girl that puts out a few catchy songs that manages to ninja their way into the hearts of even the most critical of music listeners?

I'm looking at you, Cyrus

Though I've tried as hard as I could to ignore the catchy melodies and head bobbing beats I just can't. It's too poppy. It's too upbeat.

GOD DAMN YOU, KE$HA!!!!!!

Yes, Ke$ha! God, I'm so ashamed. She's the epitome of commercialized, cheap entertainment, but I just can't help having a soft spot for her music. I mean she wakes up in the morning feeling like P.Diddy for Christ's sake. Who else feels like that when they wake up?

what ever, Diddy....

She's just good at making party music. "Don't Stop" had to be played at every party I attended this year. It's just fun to dance to.

So yes, Ke$ha's a total skank whore with no talent, but it's ok to like her songs. Because her songs make people happy. Even if they never leave your brain.

Teavana: A Review of my Favorite Tea Haven

Ah... tea. There's no beverage more relaxing. No beverage more elegant. No beverage more social than tea. I love tea. It's my favorite thing to drink. I often think about all the different kinds of tea there are in the world, their benefits, their tastes, their smells. I thought I was doomed to just stay stuck with knock-off store brand tea bags to satisfy my herbal fixation when I heard of something amazing.

cue choir of angels......NOW!
Teavana is a store literally dedicated to tea. They sell seven different types of tea, each with different flavors and blends. There's one out there for you folks. I assure you.
The tea specialists are friendly and very knowledgable about what they're selling. They offer free samples and demonstrations of their products and if you frequent at their they actually remember who you are (right Joe?).
The place literally looks like you walked into an asian tea shop. It's decorated with different tea pots and tea cups that just make you jealous of the bastards that get to stare at them all day. Seriously, those tea pots remind me that I'm poor by just looking at them. No store has made me feel so depressed and so zhen at the same time.
The tea is definately worth a try though. And those bastards are so good at selling it that you leave the store short fifty-six bucks, with a pound of skinny chai pu-ehr tea in your hands without even realizing what just happened. Speaking which of, I think I'll have a cup.
Dear God, I just tea-gasmed.

Disney Pixar "Your Friend the Rat"

So Disney Pixar put out a dvd collection of short films. When I saw it playing on ABC Family one night I had the normal reaction any true Disney Pixar fan would have.

"HOLY FUCKIN' SHIT THEY MADE A MOVIE!?!?!?!??!!!??!!1111!!!?! Must.Watch.Now!"

So I'm watching it. And It's good. It has classic Pixar shorts I loved and enjoyed as a child. It was a bigger nostalgia bomb than thatguywiththeglasses.com. And then one short caught my attention. "Your Friend the Rat" is a short film Pixar animated featuring two characters from the popular movie Ratatouille. Ok cool. I never watched the movie, but I'm sure this will be pretty good.

Unfortunately, I can't find a video in English of the film. But basically this short makes animal testing look ok. Pixar actually has Remmy list the advantages of testing on rats. I'd just love to see what PETA has to say to this. But other than that disturbing clip, the rest of the movie is pretty good. I recomend it.

Glee Review

As an aspiring actress/ singer I love anything involving music and acting. Musicals, music videos, I love it all!

Ok. maybe not all....

But song, act, and dance are my favorite forms of entertainment. So in mid-2009 when I found out Fox was primering a new pilot for a show called "Glee" I was interested. On that fateful Wendesday in May 2009 I switched on my television to Fox eagerly awaiting to see what this "Glee" was about. I gave the screen a hard glare. Come on Fox, make my day.

HOLY MOTHER MARY JESUS JOSEPH IN A BURGER KING COMMERCIAL THIS IS EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really mean it too! This show is an absolute phenomeona. Glee has sweeped the nation creating an army of "gleeks" watching each episode religiously. I don't know a single one of my fellow gleeks that don't have atleast one song sung on "Glee" in their MP3 players. This show is the most clever, most entertaining, and most fan-followed show Fox has produced since "Family Guy".

The show centers around a quirky little glee club in small town Ohio. The club is run by Spanish teacher Will Schuster (Matthew Morrison) who was part of the glee club in his high school years. A small group of misfits join the club with hopes to gain popularity, and just to one day become famous. The starting club members are as follows:

Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer)

Mercedes Jones (Amber Riley)

Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz)

The aspiring Broadway actress, Rachel Berry (Lea Michele). And wheelchair ridden Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale).

Later they're joined by star Quarterback, Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) and Cheerios cheerleaders Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera), Brittany (Heather Morris), and Finn's girlfriend, Quinn Fabray (Diana Agron). In later episodes the club is rounded out by football players Noah "Puck" Puckerman (Mark Salling), Mike Chang (Harry Shum Jr), and Matt Rutherford (Dijon Talton).

What makes this show brilliant is the clever writing and the gut wrenching love triangles between Finn, Puck, Rachel, and Quinn and Will, his wife,Terry (Jessalyn Gilsig), and school guidance counselor Emma Pilsbury (Jayma Mays). Jane Lynch also gives a wonderful performance as ornery Cheerios coach, Sue Sylvestor.

Every episode of this show targets an issue teenagers face everyday, stemming from race, religion, sexuality, and even long lost parents. The actors get into their roles giving tear jerking and hilarious performances as the charaters they play. The show just finished up their first season and will be returning next fall, no doubt providing the same entertainment they've given us this year. Here's looking at you Glee!
